Welcome to the Hatch Files!

My name is Adam Sweet.  I'm the great-great-great-great grandson of Joseph Hatch.  The Hatches were ship builders, carpenters and they hailed from Nova Scotia.  They were from Scotland originally, where they plied their trades in Glasgow along the River Clyde.

The River Clyde and the numerous shipbuilding yards along its banks near Glasgow were arguably the most significant shipbuilding region in Scotland, especially during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Clyde became a global powerhouse in shipbuilding, renowned for the quality and innovation of its vessels. Many famous ships, from the Cutty Sark to the Queen Mary, were built on the Clyde.

While other harbors like Aberdeen and those in the Firth of Forth also had shipbuilding activity, the sheer scale and output of the yards along the River Clyde cemented its place as a leading center for shipbuilding in Scotland for a considerable period.

This is my blog.  Over the last 15 years or so, I have written a variety of articles as they relate to my own interests, mainly music, marketing and more.  I hope you enjoy reading.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.
